QUESTION:Friend of mine (my first convert) has just bought his first van and as
he can't store it at home, has been looking around for a secure
storage site.
He's found a place near Keighley which is a new one on me. The owner
has bought a disused railway tunnel, installed lighting etc and stores
the vans in line along the tunnel..
You ring him up when you want to collect it, and he manoevres it out
of the tunnel with a mini-tractor, then washes and polishes it ready
for collection, all at a fiver a week.
Plenty of space available as well. My mate says there's still about
three miles of tunnel to go at.
I think it's a brilliant idea. Has anyone heard of anything similar?
ANSWER: Nice idea but I wonder how dry the tunnel is and who maintains it. I can
imagine sometime it is going to need the roof seeing to and that won't be
cheap. This sort of thing is done on a planned maintainance routine ( or
should be ) by rail companies or contractors. A lot of rail tunnels I have
seen are continuously dripping water and whatever comes down with it. I'd
imagine your pal will have looked into all this and thinks it viable. It
should certainly be secure, good luck to him.
