Wheels for under-bed storage box
QUESTION:I'd like to make a box that will fit under the bed to store items in.
Can somebody point me in the direction of some kind of low profile
wheels (with brackets) that I could use for said storage box?
ANSWER: -how about 4 - 6" wooden wheels bolted to the side with a
nylon washer to minimize friction. Let the wheel protrude
enough so the box glides over the carper easily
-I made 4 storage boxes for under my work bench (similar to
under bed ones) and used the wheels from a discarded refrigerator
roll out "thingy". It had 4 wheels on each end of two metal
brackets. built them so the wheels are inside the footprint of
the box at the corners. A sort of "truck bed inside wheel well"
if you get the idea. Works great for storage of things like saw
sharpening vises, planes only used occaisonally, special clamps, etc.
