QUESTION:After reading postings outlining the difficulty in the Illinois state
storage laws, I was wondering if anyone knows the storage requirements
we will be faced with in Texas. Since it appears that we will have to
get a LEUP for any Aerotech 29/180 or larger reload, it seems that
anyone using this method to certify will have to have a LEUP or
certify at a launch that has a dealer show up.
I think it would be useful to start a thread in rmr for those of you
that already have a LEUP and know the requirements for your state. We
probably can get Georgia and Illinois covered, but how about other
states?
ANSWER: -Make sure you check your local laws before you put in a magazine. In
Virginia, the state is not a problem but the county of Fairfax is very
restrictive (ie. max of 5 lbs and then only for research purposes). -I am in San Bernardino County, home of Lucerne Dry Lake Bed, and the
storage laws in the county are not that bad. 1. Background check by Sherrif's Dept., or they will accept a valid
Pyro.-Rockets license. This is thru the Arson investigation department. 2. Local fire marshal has no requirements if under 100 lbs is to be
stored. He will issue a letter stating that fact, (ie - I know what he
is storing and don't really care if under 100 lbs). 3. He wanted a courtesy notification to the fire stations that would be
first response to a fire. This is for the county of San Bernardino, it would be a nightmare if I
lived within a city.
