QUESTION:

I'm in the process of ordering a storage shed for my yard. My one car garage is getting too small for the mower, blower, vac, spreader, etc. I'm looking at either the 8X14 or 10X14, about a $300 difference. Any tips on what to look for? Here in upstate NY "amish" sheds are real popular. Are all sheds created equal? What about the different types, a-frame, quaker, dutch barn? Any one better than the other? We are leaning towards the quaker because it has eaves in the front. Also any tips on "furnishing" the inside? The decking is pressure treated plywood, what can I put on it to make it hold up to snow and mud but not be slippery?

ANSWER:

One tip I was given for my shed was to go to Home Depot, Menards, Lowes, etc and purchase a cheap roll of linoleum and put it on the floor where you are going to put any machines that might leak. It makes for easy cleanup and does not let the gas or oil soak into the floor. We got a 5 foot x 8 foot piece and covered only part of the floor of our shed.
