QUESTION:Piston assisted storage bed
I'm wanting to instal gas pistons to help lift the queen size mattress
so I can get into the storage area easier.
Currently I have a frame with 2 1/4" boards to support the matt.
I'll need to replace them with something stronger.
Has anyone seen plans anywhere? Have you done this?
ANSWER: I added a pair of 20-inch, 60-lb pistons on my new Safari Zanzibar.
The platform is extremely heavy - I used a broom handle to hold it up
the first time, and it shattered like an explosion. Lucky
nobody/nothing was hurt. The 60-lb pair is sufficient to hold it open
at about 45 degrees. I bought "Nautalift" from go2marine.com
