Storage items and other ideas you have
I built a 1' shelf around the top of my shop
QUESTION:I am curious what the other folks on here use for general parts storage. I
currently have close to 75 "shoe box" type plastic bins with lids I purchased
at WalMart. Think they were around $.75 each and work well keeping things dust
free and clean. I built a 1' shelf around the top of my shop, 7' above the
floor and 1' below the ceiling to keep them on. Standing in the middle of the
floor I can rotate around until I find what I am looking for (or get very dizzy).
I also have the typical wall mounted, multi-drawer, small plastic cabinets but
they let in a lot of dust into the drawers.
Like everyone else, I have the usual assortment of jars, cardboard boxes and
other containers setting around on shelves. I was just wondering if I was
missing something and what others have found to keep their screws, bolts, etc
ANSWER: I use Skippy peanut butter jars for storage of larger items and maraschino
cherry jars for smaller items. I screw the lids to the bottom of my storage
shelves thereby doubling their capacity. If you drink enough Manhattans the
cherry jars accumulate rather quickly. Having all one type of jar gives the
impression that your are either well organized or you drink too much. The
labels should be removed to allow clear visibility of the contents.
