ANSWER: Well, what worked best for me was a build-it-yourself utility cabinet.
One of those Sauder or Bush kits I think. It's the same size as a normal
bookshelf, but with all but the top shelf split in half - that is, there's a
support
that runs down the middle of the thing; each shelf half is about 20 inches
or so. I used to just use big bookcases, but I had a real problem with
bowing
and even lost a shelf once - just splintered on me one day and dumped 50 or
so discs onto the floor. This one, the spans are short enough I don't have
that problem.
I picked this up at an OfficeMax (?) for maybe $65 or so.
