I am moving from Silver Spring MD to
Charlottesville VA this summer.
QUESTION:I am looking for any advice you might have about moving
companies. I am moving from Silver Spring MD to
Charlottesville VA this summer. Last year when I moved up from
VA I used "All My Sons" (out of DC) and they were every moving
company horror story rolled into one.
Moving is one of the worst experiences on the planet and I
really think the movers can make or break it for you. (no pun
intended!) :) Can anyone out there share their experiences?
In addition to your recommendations, I would also like to
know who to stay away from.
ANSWER: -Try Security Storage company. They moved me from DC to London to New
Jersey and back. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. These
guys are a class act, no wonder they're been around for over a century.
-Also excellent is Von Paris and Sons in
Gaithersburg. I move about 400 employees a year so I know about
moving people and they've been great to all of the people we need to
move around the country. I don't know about price as
I get a volume discount.
Oftentimes having a smooth move is pure common sense, like asking a
lot of questions to whomever you chose to move your stuff and
overseeing the packing and loading of your goods onto the truck.
