Just signed us up for a storage locker service in Orlando
QUESTION:I bought an account today with ownerslocker.com.
They give you a personal locker, you fill it with stuff, and they pick
it up and deliver it to the bell services desk at your hotel or
resort, almost anywhere in Orlando. We can keep an inventory list,
schedule our next visit, etc. on their website.
I'll let you know how we like this service. It's kind of expensive,
but I think it will be totally worth the hassle of packing, stuffing
my luggage to the point of breaking zippers, and having to shop for
things I didn't remember to bring, etc. $75 set up fee, including
initial delivery and pickup, and then $99 per year, year starts at
initial pickup, giving you one delivery/pickup per year. Additional
"visits" (one delivery/pickup) are an additional $25 each, or there's
an unlimited plan for $179 per year.
We are planning on putting all sorts of stuff in there! So far our
list includes our Pal Mickey with all his outfits, my Camelbak
hydration pack, Joe's rain pants, our rain ponchos, our Tevas, an
extra pair of sneakers, full size toiletries for both of us, laundry
detergent, dryer sheets, ziplocks, paper towels... the list goes on!
I guess I could ship it all UPS every time, and that would be cheaper,
but the convenience of this is worth the price to me! Can't wait to
play with my new locker
ANSWER: don't think the price is THAT bad. As you know, we ship meat for a
living. I don't know how large your locker is, but if you can get it
to hold 30# (which isn't that much), depending upon where you live,
your shipping would be an average of .50/pound. So figure $30 in
shipping for each trip--to send the stuff down and to send it back
home. That is assuming a ground carrier. USPS would be more. You don't
have to worry about it being lost or damaged in transit.
If you were to ship your stuff down/back via a guaranteed service (such as Fed Ex Express, 2nd Day) your shipping would double. So if
you wanted to make SURE your package arrived when you needed it, the
shipping would be $60 per trip.
