QUESTION:I am headed to Hawaii soon and I have been scoping out
having a board shaped for myself, which I hope to use
while there. At the end of the trip I will have it sent
home. I have reservations in a hotel with an elevator
and obviously can't keep the board in my room. It will
be a longboard.
I hope it doesn't seem obtuse, but does anyone have
suggestions on keeping the board somewhere before
shipping it home? If I remember correctly, aren't there
board lockups at Waikiki? But would that be a risk?
It's possible that I can keep it at a friend's house,
but if that's not possible I am looking for
alternative suggestions.
ANSWER: -I was recently in Waikiki and also had a long board (9'6") with me.
Fortunately, it fit on the elevator if I angled it just right and no one else
was in the elevator. The bellhop did offer to keep it at the bell station and
let me get it at any time but I felt better keeping in the room. I doubt that
there would be a problem. Maybe that will work for you. I didn't see any
board storage areas. -I too, had a board shaped in Hawaii-by Local Motion 9'6", surfed it, and stored
it at the hotel. The elevator would NOT fit a 9'6", so i stored it at the
hotel bell desk storage room. No problem-picked it up at the lobby area
storage room, walked down to the beach, and paddled out.
BTW, i was there again this past week, and surf in trunks (wetsuits required
here in SoCal), in 1-2 ft Waikiki, and 2-3 ft North Shore
Enjoy!
