QUESTION:Our company just purchased a 75,000 square foot building in Burnet, TX. We
are looking at the possibility of turning this into a covered and locked
facility for RV storage. Does anyone have any ideas or directions for us to
go?
ANSWER: -Advertise it to Canadians or Europeans who have their motorhomes
registered in the U.S. and store them here. I've run into quite a few
while traveling. Even some older folks in northern states might wish to
use the facility. That is a nice area. I've spent time near there at
Ink's Lake (Rockaway) and LBJ Lake (Long Mountain).
-I loved having my 5er stored indoors - with indoor storage, an RV would last
so much longer without looking weathered. Undoubtedly the roof and tires
would last longer, and no more black stripes. But it got too expensive.
FYI, greensmiths, I paid $175 / mo in Orlando for a 20' x 60' bay in primo
indoor storage. They had a wash bay, dump station, 24-hour attendants, etc.
The place was named "Adult Toy Storage". My trailer was parked next to Neil
Young's tour bus. And there was a waiting list. When I told them I was
moving out, they said that they would have the space rented with one phone
call.
The storage barn (steel) had vents around the bottom of the walls, and vents
at the tops of the walls, under the eaves. They were not worried about
propane leaks. There was no electricity and were no lights in the storage
barn. There were approximately 10 bays per building
