Bulk (storage) foods buying coop in Austin?
QUESTION:Does anyone know of a bulk foods purchasing coop in the Austin area
that doesn't have minimum individual orders? I'm still on the hunt
for a reliable (stress on RELIABLE) source of yellow dent corn,
preferably organic.
ANSWER: -I'm after a club-sort of thing that pools orders for storage foods to
meet truckload buying requirements from a distributor-wholesaler such
as http://waltonfeed.com/
-Ozarka(out of Colorado i think) and Health Food Distributors(that may not be
the right name but its close...its whole foods distributor) are the two I know
of. They always have minimums but if you work with Jim at Ecowise he makes a
minimum order every month(at least he used to) and you can piggyback on his
order. His store is next to Vulcan behind Guerros on South Congress. This was
the way he did it for years so I am only assuming he still does this.
