QUESTION:Can anyone provide me any reliability information, etc. on a carousel
backup device known as "Alexandria" ?
ANSWER: -Alexandria is a backup product from SpectraLogic. I do not have a number
for
them but perhaps someone else in the website does.
They do support some small carousel type archives which utilize 8MM
cartridges. I believe that they also recently added support for the Ampex
DST310.
If you can't find a number send me mail and I will look through some
literature
that I have on Alexandria. There is probably a number in there but I'm
being lazy.
-Alexandria is a backup product not a carousel. The product is developed by
a company called Spectra Logic. They also sell 4mm carousels that are intended
to work with Alexandria although other robotic devices can be driven by the
product. Sorry I don't have any info on the carousel's reliability though, I haven't
used any of Spectra Logic's products.
