QUESTION:I'm in the process of searching out a newhard drive for my IIcx, and have
just come across an old Quantum 40MB internal drive in my organization's
storage bins. I currently have a Sony 40MB internal.
Now, I have a few questions:
Can I connect more than one internal drive to the IIcx in any way? Could
I have both the Sony and the Quantum inside my IIcx?
The Sony is a small machine: about 4x6x1.5". The Quantum is much larger: 5.5x8.5x2" (I think it was from an old Mac II). The housing in the IIcx
will not fit the Quantum drive as it sits now; in fact, the cables are
so short that the drive sticks out an an awkward angle when I plug it in.
Is there a way to enlarge the space to fit the Quantum drive (the housing
is removable, I'm sure, but what would I mount the Quantum to?). I may
wish to replace the Sony with the Quantum, since the Sony has stiction
problems.
As another option, can I convert the Quantum internal into a SCSI external
drive with relative ease and/or minimal expense? It currently has
sockets for the standard plus which also work with the Sony; can these be
adapted to work with SCSI?
These are only 40MB drives, and I'll probably be getting an external 100MB
or so anyway, but it would be nice to use at least one of these (paid for)
drives in addition.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if this program is available in Canada though. Check with an
Apple authorized service centre (Computer Maintenance at 2-5516 or the
Bookstore Computer Shop at 2-6618). Be sure to be ready with your
computer's serial number and any relevant id info from the drive itself.
My gut feeling is that the drive must stick before being replaced.

adapted to work with SCSI [external connection?]? A: That's a reasonable approach. A complete plug and play case with power
supply, case, and cables can be purchased for $100-$200 mail order. Check
Mac magazines such as MacWeek, MacUser, and MacWorld.

Any suggestions? A: Get the case. When you have mo' money, you can either pass the 40MB
external to someone else or get a big internal drive to replace either of
your two 40MB drives.
