QUESTION:I will be splitting my time between Chicago and L.A. for the next six months
or so. I'm planning on bringing the bike to CA, but won't have access to a
secured parking space (I'll be staying in an 'extended stay' hotel/motel
place in LA.). Besides renting garage space, or paying for monthly parking,
I was thinking of locking the bike up in one of those 24-hour access public
storage places where 'you lock it, you keep the key' etc.
Has anyone done this before? Will these places allow storage of bikes? Can
anyone think of a better way?
ANSWER: -I rented a public storage closet for a bike for a couple months. They knew
exactly what I would be storing (the bike) and never had a problem with it.
They rented to me gladly for around 45 bux a month. -Used Public Storage while I was in the Navy.... locked up 2 bikes for up to 6
months at a time. Owners seemed to have no problem, but if you read the rules
you cannot store any 'flamables' that includes gas in the tank and oil in the case.
