Does anyone have a suggestion for a very portable storage device
of 3 to 5 GB in size ?
QUESTION:Does anyone have a suggestion for a very portable storage device
of 3 to 5 GB in size ?
I am currently using a 1.3 GB magneto optical Fujitsu drive from
http://www.fcpa.fujitsu.com/products/mo-drives/ . I am very
happy with it except their highest capacity drive is only 2.3 GB.
The cartridge is the size of a 3.5" floppy except it is 1.5 times
the thickness. Very portable and trustable.
How about a 4 GB USB2 key ?
ANSWER: -I screwed up my description here. What I need is a 3 to 5 GB
transport media / cartridge that I can throw in my shirt pocket
once a week. A DVD-R 4X drive has been suggested and I
am thinking about that. The MO cartridge has been perfect for
the last couple of years.
Q: Expensive and not available yet anyway. A: Yup, I found the 2 GB USB2 key for $539 at
http://www.dvd-rwmedia.com/2gbusb20flme.html -Its only a little below what you get with an internal IDE hard drive.
With most work you wont be able to pick the difference without
using a benchmark. There is a real difference with a benchmark.
Havent actually tried with Ghost imaging ops tho, you likely
wont get anything like as good a thruput with a USB2 drive
as the best seen with a pair of internal drives, but I havent
actually tried measuring that. Mainly due to the significant
protocol overhead seen with USB2.
