cheapest I've found yet is in Costa Mesa for about $100/month
ANSWER: A trustworthy friend who could drive it once a week for you, and keep all
the seals and brakes and such from drying out/ rusting solid? Cars do not
store well, even in balmy CA. If it sits outdoors for six months, expect
brake and fuel system problems. Any indoor storage place that preservation
packs the thing for you is going to be over $100 per month. Do a Google on
'long-term vehicle storage' for any of the past threads on all the steps to
take before you leave. The various rec.auto groups, especially if there are
any local to south CA, would be the best bet for finding a cheap
hole-in-the-wall storage company.
