The problem is, those greedy critters flatten themselves and go inside my outdoor storage room and break into the bags of food.

QUESTION:

I've had good luck having a separate squirrel feeder so they don't bother the hanging bird feeders too much. The problem is, those greedy critters flatten themselves and go inside my outdoor storage room and break into the bags of food. But, I have to thank them for some things. When I'm running late in the mornings and don't have time to refill all the feeders, they break in and get at the bag of squirrel food. And I come home to find (spilling out from under the door onto the patio) cracked corn and black sunflower seeds. So the cardinals are happy as well. I even spotted a blue jay happily munching away at this stuff; I haven't seen one for a while. Now if the squirrels would only learn how to turn on the hose and refill the bird bath so everyone could have a drink and a dip, I wouldn't have to do much of anything.

ANSWER:

I got some of those plastic storage bins with the snap on lids to keep my seed stocks in, keeps the mice and squirrels at bay. Also use them for the Dog and Cat food. Large ones will easily hold 50 Pounds and makes it easy to dispense. Use a plastic 8 cup measuring cup to fill the feeders with. Oh and the Squirrels LOVE the in shell unsalted peanuts from the grocery store....left a bag I had gotten for ME sitting on the car, when I came back for it the bag was opened and the squirrels were VERY pleased with themselves!
