Anyone seen those large plastic storage boxes ?
QUESTION:Looking for those plastic storage boxes with lids for putting the kids
toys/books/albums etc into the loft or garage.
They are about 60x30x30 cm. Looking for cheap and cheerful rather than
colourful eye candy for bedrooms.
I've tried Woolies, B&Q and the local Poundshops but to no avail.
Any ideas appreciated
ANSWER: Don't go for the cardboard/fibre IKEA ones. They just aren't strong
enough to be useful. IKEA do have plastic crates that slide into
slots on wooden shelving - we use loads of those and they're quite
tough and long lasting. They don't have handles, although they stack
well. I can't remember if lids are an option.
The plastic crates you mention are normally stacked to the ceiling in
B&Q or Homebase... odd you can't find any. But B&Q currently do large
rubber bins with handles in bright primary colours, intended for
garden use, for a fiver or so, stacked up in the gardening section. If
I were refitting the kids's bedroom I'd use those for toy bins. (Also
good as beer bucket at parties!) No lids though so they might not be
suitable for attic storage esp if dust is an issue.
