This is for a 10x25 garage-type indoor storage unit to store a 17' boat/trailer in

QUESTION:

I had no idea renting a storage unit was so expensive!! Just got done calling the closest 2 storage facilities (in proximity to our house) and the one is $100/month (5% discount 6 months paid in advance; 10% discount 12 months paid in advance), and the other is running a special of $85/month (normally $95) now thru the end of August, I believe she said. This is for a 10x25 garage-type indoor storage unit to store a 17' boat/trailer in. The one place also offers outdoor storage for $1.50/linear foot/month, with a minum of $35/ month. Which is great, but not the safest/most secure. We don't have a pole building or anything, and I don't really care to have a boat/ trailer parked outside my house year-round, so if DH ends up buying this boat he's looking at, we need to figure out where to put it. I haven't called the marina to ask them, but I'm sure it's probably more expensive than the storage units!

ANSWER:

In Sacramento, CA I pay $65/month for an uncovered, outdoor spot to park my 17' boat at a storage place in a not-so-good part of town 3-4 miles away from where I live. While I have insurance, I constantly worry about it being vandalized despite the storage grounds being secured and supposedly having video surviellance, etc. Not sure what an indoor unit might cost...afraid to ask, but I'd gladly pay
$100/month for a garage-type indoor unit.
