Any ideas for household storage?

QUESTION:

Any ideas for household storage? I have a very small kitchen, and have limited space for extra storage, such as paper products, canned food, coffee, etc. I buy in bulk as much as I can, but really need to find extra storage space. Only 2 out of 4 bedrooms have a closet, and my space is very limited. We need to start saving more, my boyfriend is watching everyone he works with getting laid off, or hours cut back, and is just waiting to hear he is next. I have always bought in bulk, store cereal under my computer desk, mayo under my dresser, toilet paper stacked in the coat closet, but really need to extend my space. I am cleaning out clothes, old stuff, and taking it to consignment shops, do any of you have ideas for space to store items that are on sale? An example is my local grocery store had a sale on fruit snacks, pop tarts, and boxed cereal, at about .80 per box. Cereal at that price, with 3 school age boys, I bought as many boxes I could store, turned out to be about 20 boxes. Got a box of powdered milk to mix with. Any creative ideas?

ANSWER:

Under the bed. Bathroom cupboards. Get one of those toy hammocks and hang it from the ceiling in the kitchen (or from cuphooks between cabinets). Drop the cereals in it and let the kids pick each morning. I have a large plastic box (from Tupperware 25 years ago) that sits on top of the fridge with all the snacks in it. Want a snack - reach for that box. When you are swamped for storage space, I learned a great truth...one of the best ways is UP. Think of ways to utilize wall space without getting too expensive - a pegboard with hooks can be mounted to the wall to hang things on - like pans, lids and ladles, leaving the cupboards for food storage.
