Can anyone tell me the mechanics behind the advertised humidity control feature on high end home storage units?

QUESTION:

Can anyone tell me the mechanics behind the advertised humidity control feature on high end home storage units? I realize that the low dollar units do no more than recycle the moisture extracted from the air during the cooling process. You can do that with an old refrigerator by diverting the condensation flow from the pan at the bottom of the unit to back into the cabinet. And this is fine as long as the air in the cabinet is already at a high level. You can only extract what is there from the beginning; but what about drier climates? Do these units have a water hookup to add moisture to the cabinet?

ANSWER:

I am one of those that just plain doesn't worry about humidity ( unless it is so high that you are getting mold on the labels ). Having moved our cellar from NY to IA to AZ to here in NC all with no concern for humidity whatsoever, I've seen no issues with it over the past 20 odd years. btw ... when you do decide on a unit .. please drop us a note on your reactions so that we can continue to update our info archive on storage units at http://www.stratsplace.com/storageunits.html
