I spoke with the agent, and she knew nothing about allowing attached garage storage

QUESTION:

I've finally been contacted for the interview and inspection fro my LEUP.
[I find it odd that it took more than 45 days to get this far, and they STILL haven't doen any background check...] I spoke with the agent, and she knew nothing about allowing attached garage storage. I wasn't surprised by this since the letter we were promised by larry McCune STILL hasn't been issued. So before I can go further, I need to request a variance. She indicated it would be helpful if I had copies of variances that had been already issued for this same purpose, the storage of model rocket motors in the attached garage of a personal residence. So, can any of you out there who have got your storage permits already specifically for storage in an attached garage please (1) email me ASAP indicating how you got this and (2) snailmail me a copy of whatever you got in writing from the BATF. I'll go one step farther by offering to be a clearinghouse for such materials. If any one else needs these in the future, contact me for copies.

More questions: When you've had your inspection and interview, what kind of things did they ask? What are they looking for? What did you ask them? I've got some questions about record keeping. Again, it seems the regs are for the industrial dynamite user, not the HPR flier. Am I supposed to keep records of every motor type and delay, and how many of each (rather involved, and probably a spreadsheet task), just a total motor count, or a propellant weight count, or what? The agent did tell me that it needs to be on paper, the BATF hasn't entered into the computer age yet. One surprizing answer I did get. My magazines are to be a couple small surplus ammo boxes. A asked her what if any security is necessary to "attach" them to my garage to prevent someone from just walking off with the whole box. She said that the smallest magazine she's ever seen was one of these truck size job boxes that take 2 men to lift. But she didn't have a problem with the small boxes. I can just set them in the garage wherever I like. I may use the padlocks to chain them to a workbench leg any, but this wasn't required.
