QUESTION:Just wondering if anyone knows of a particular brand or special food storage
container that can take the abuse of bumping around in a backpack without
opening. Basically what I'm looking for is a way to take soup or something
healthy to lunch (since the deli near where I work often tempts me to eat
things I shouldn't and which are more expensive) with me at work. I bike to
work everyday and I'm not aware of a food storage container that is sturdy
enough to survive a bike ride without opening. Is there something made
especially for this or something that does this well? I have to believe
there might be something given that people possibly take food on
cross-country rides, etc.
ANSWER: Depending upon the length of your ride, freeze the soup in Zip-Loc
Freezer bags. My commute is 8.5 mi one way in St. Louis heat [not Texas
Heat, mind you], and it stays frozen enough not to leak. Mind you, the
soups I make are pretty thick though. Had navy bean/ham for lunch.
Mm, bean soup and hot sauce!
