2) We are looking for an alternative to self-storage rental units for the
storage of our sets.
QUESTION:1) Due to a lack of suitable storage space between shows, we are looking to
replace our wooden platforms with new modular ones. Ideally, we would like
the type of portable staging that is flexible and can be used at a variety
of heights. Although I have seen a variety of platforms and supports online,
there don't seem to be any prices listed. Is anyone using manufactured
portable staging that could give me some advice? 2) We are looking for an alternative to self-storage rental units for the
storage of our sets. At the present time, we perform in the multi-purpose
room of one of the local churchs. While they do not have any extra space for
us to store our unused flats, platforms and set pieces, we may be able to
put some external storage unit on their property. Is anyone using an
industrial container for storage? Where does one purchase such a thing? How
much can we expect to pay for it? What are the actual internal dimensions?
ANSWER: Our group has looked a bit at portable staging. I can tell you up front
that it is quite expensive. Our visitor's bureau here in Cadillac is
writing a grant to our local community foundation to get fund for a 16'x20'
stage that will be about 2' high and have some special legs on some section
to fit over an exsisting smaller stage where we are going to start have our
concerts. The cost of this stage is going to be around $8200. Much more
than our non-profit group would be able to come up with. But the foundation
has funds for these types of things, so i am hopefull that the grant will go
through. At any rate there is a company in Clare, MI, just down the road
from us that makes these stage section. You could contact them and give
them your general spec's and they might be able to give you a ballpark
figure.
