Question for Christmas Tree Storage

QUESTION:

Alright, Quick Question for anyone who may have an idea. Christmas is coming... and I own an artificial tree. I store it in the same box that I bought it in... But now the box looks worn and is slowly falling apart on me. What I want to know is if anyone has any idea if there is a rubbermaid product (or any other storage product) that can hold a 9 foot articfial tree. (Without using cardboard boxes.)

ANSWER:

-This is what we do - not as tidy as you may want, but may steer your thinking. When we take down the tree, I get out my 13 gal. kitchen (white) trash bags and write a #1 on the first one. Then I put all the "fronds" from the bottom row in the bag. These bags are not long enough to close. Then I put a #2 on the next bag and work my way up the tree. The center core is in parts and can be stored in a much smaller container than the box you are using. Where do we put all these bags you ask? In the attic. We go into the attic twice a year. Once to haul down the tree and once to put it back up. (No steps, need a ladder.) I have thought - just thought, mind you - of sewing bags that are long enough to enclose the fronds, but just never quite get around to it. What can I say? Hope this gets the wheels in motion.
-First, please come here and convince my hubby that we should get an artificial tree. I'm tired of killing trees, and think we'd have less respriatory problems if we had an artificial. I promise to buy only pine scented candles during the Christmas season if he finally gives in [we burn scented candles here all the time]. Next, have you considered wrapping the box in plastic 'contact' [generic] style paper? It'd probably hold up a little longer. I've got lots of boxes I've wrapped in cow print contact paper that I use for different storage solutions. They've held up very well. I've wrapped everything from theshelves in my pantry, the shelf above my laundry appliances, those plastic magazine files, to boxes that I store tools in. They look nice.
