QUESTION:

Has anyone built or used small-parts storage bins like the ones in this plan: I've tried empty jars and various kinds of multi-drawer cabinets. They just don't provide me with what I want. I want something portable (like jars) that I can carry to the workbench but uniform in design so that they can be stored in some sort of organized way that makes its easy to find what I'm looking for. What works for you?

ANSWER:

-If you just want a project this looks like a good solution. It would probably be cheaper to buy the plastic trays than you could make the wooden ones for. I got mine free from someone using them for advertisement but if you shop around you can find them in bulk cheaper than you could buy the material to make the wooden ones for. Go here and check the front and left views and you can see both the small and large plastic bins that work great. http://www.wood-workers.com/users/billwatatt/
-I have a pegboard that I hang little glass jars on. You should be able to find it in the pegboard aisle. It seems that's just what you might want.
