I would like to move some of my everyday drinking wines from my 55 degree
storage unit to my closet storage space which usually stays about 65-68 degrees
QUESTION:Perhaps someone here can help me. I Have a small temperature controlled
storage unit which holds about 60 bottles. Over time it has filled to
capacity. I also have a small storage area under my staircase where I now
store any wine that doesn't fit into the temperature controlled unit. I
would like to move some of my everyday drinking wines from my 55 degree
storage unit to my closet storage space which usually stays about 65-68
degrees, to make room for some new bottles that merit longer aging.
My question is, will I damage any wines that have been stored for a year or
two at 55 degrees, to my 65 degree storage area?
ANSWER: I wouldn't worry about it. 65 degrees is still a pretty wine-friendly
cellar temperature. Besides, aren't those wines in the "on deck" area?
You'll be drinking them soon anyway.
