8. What do consider the pro's/con's of storage rental (personal/private/rental) ?
QUESTION:After 4L'ng here for the last 3 years, I am a little curious as to the
various ways in which people have to store their RV/5'r/TT's.
I would like to submit a short survey questionaire now and once more next
and if you would Email it back me at: (byronschATsherbtel.net) or post
here and I will collect the responses and post the results here in about 2-3
weeks.
I ask these questions as I have been thinking of starting a business of
self-storage geared towards those with RV's and would appreciate any
feed-back. 1. How do you store your RV, inside/outside? 2. Where do store it:
A-at home?
B-friends land?
C-storage lot?
D-pole barn?
E-storage facility: 3. What size storage do you use? 4. How much do you pay ? 5. For much of the time is it in storage-months? 6. What distance do you have travel to storage? 7. What distance would you consider the max to travel? 8. What do consider the pro's/con's of storage rental (personal/private/rental) ?
Pro:
Con: 9. What items/services do you think should/might be provided for the cost?
ANSWER: Q: 1. How do you store your RV, inside/outside? A: Outside
Q: 2. Where do store it:
A-at home? A: in a rear driveway. Prior to this year, for some portion of the year,
it sat at my shop in an unsecured yard. Since our break-in in early
January it will no longer be staying there.
Q: 3. What size storage do you use? A: The length of the trailer - 30+ feet
Q: 4. How much do you pay ? A: N/A
Q: 5. For much of the time is it in storage-months? A: Mar - May usually, unless we take it skiing
Brief periods through June to Aug - maybe a total of 4 weeks in the
three months
Some 3-6 day trips in Sept & Oct
Sits for Nov & Dec
Heads south in Jan / Feb
Q: 6. What distance do you have travel to storage? A: 20 feet
Q: 7. What distance would you consider the max to travel? A: 1/2 hour drive
Q: 8. What do consider the pro's/con's of storage rental (personal/private/rental) ?
Pro: A: Security, frees up space in my yard
Q: Con:
A: Cost, inconvenience (we can load the trailer in the evening during the
week and leave on Friday afternoon - try that if the rig is in
storage)
Q: 9. What items/services do you think should/might be provided for the cost?
A: Security is a definite requirement. Being under cover might be a pro.
I drag my trailer to an RV service tech at least once a year for
preventative maintenance - if a storage lot offered that service (on
or off site) it would be a pro. Washing and waxing would be nice
touches.
